I’m Jean-Claude, and I’m so glad you’ve found your way to us.
SÂMATA isn’t just a spa. It’s a center where decades of hands-on experience in physiotherapy, massage, and holistic care come together under one roof. When I opened Cambodia’s first international physiotherapy clinic in 1997, it was because I saw a need—a space that could offer more than just relaxation. I wanted to create a destination where people could heal, restore, and feel deeply well, inside and out.
My roots go back to France, where I trained in massage and physiotherapy. Early on, I was lucky to work with a mentor who taught me something simple but profound: real healing isn’t just technique—it’s about presence, intention, and truly understanding the person in front of you. That philosophy has shaped everything we do at SÂMATA MEDICAL, WELLNESS AND SPA.
The name itself tells our story. We began as ÂMATA, meaning eternity in Khmer. Later, we embraced the Khmer word SÂMATA, meaning balance. It’s a perfect reflection of what we believe in: harmony between body and mind, east and west, science and tradition.
Here at SÂMATA MEDICAL, WELLNESS AND SPA, we take a holistic approach to care. Whether you come for physiotherapy, acupuncture, osteopathy, or a deeply restorative massage, you’ll receive thoughtful, personalised treatment. No two bodies are the same—and neither are our sessions.

About Sâmata: A legacy of healing in the heart of Phnom Penh
Founded on a deep belief in holistic wellbeing, SÂMATA MEDICAL, WELLNESS AND SPA is Cambodia’s first integrated center for physiotherapy, wellness, and spa therapies—serving both locals and international guests in a single serene destination.
The journey began in 1997, when Jean-Claude Dhuez, a French-trained physiotherapist, opened the first international physiotherapy clinic in Phnom Penh. His vision expanded in 2000 with the creation of ÂMATA, a brand offering handcrafted aromatherapy and spa products.
In 2011, the brand brought wellness to travelers through the launch of the ÂMATA Massage Lounge at Phnom Penh International Airport. A year later, in 2012, the company rebranded as SÂMATA, paving the way for a broader vision of integrated care.
That same year, SÂMATA Health and Wellness Studio opened its doors in Phnom Penh’s Boeung Keng Kang district—offering everything from clinical treatments and energy healing to luxury spa services and bespoke aromatherapy, all under one roof.
Today, SÂMATA MEDICAL, WELLNESS AND SPA stands as a trusted name in Cambodia’s wellness landscape—honoring ancient traditions, modern science, and personalized care in every treatment, product, and practice.
